HTC Aria for AT&T gets Android 2.2 or Froyo update

HTC Aria Froyo The overdue and much anticipated Android 2.2 or Froyo update has recently been delivered on many handsets to enhance the overall mobile phone experience. Joining the update bandwagon, HTC has recently announced that its Aria smartphone for AT&T is up for an Android 2.2 or Froyo upgrade.

The HTC Aria is powered by the Android 2.1 OS and boasts of a 3.2” touchscreen display. It jackets a 5MP camera for users to capture various images and further supports expandable memory of up to 32GB. The handset includes other basic features like Bluetooth v2.1, GPS support, FM radio, MP3 player and more.

According to a post on HTC’s support forum page, the update process will result in permanent deletion of everything that is not a part of the OS such as SMS/MMS, e-mails and apps downloaded from Android Market. Therefore owners need to take a backup of the device to retain all the important data.

After the HTC smartphone is updated to the Android v2.2 OS, users can expect several improvements like the PDF Reader which will be changed to Adobe Reader and the Factory Reset option gets relocated to phone and SD storage.

The other changes included in the new version list out a revamped AT&T Radio icon, Navigator will be transformed to Car Panel. The Sound and Display will be split up into individual categories under settings. Additionally, the Photos option has also been changed to Gallery.

The Android v2.2 update for AT&T’s HTC Aria can be downloaded via HTC’s support forum. This Froyo update for Aria was already unrolled for South East Asia back in December.
