A price of Rs. 43,500 for the HP ElitePad 900 as well as its launch in India have been announced by the company which focuses mainly on business persons and officers of the government with this tablet launch. It’s refreshing to see the manufacturer being very specific about the target audience it intends to attract with the said product, rather than just hoping to get everyone’s attention (revised marketing strategies, no doubt).
Now when a tablet like this comes pre-loaded with Windows 8 Pro, we automatically know that it means business. Add to that the available accessories such as an optional stylus, Bluetooth keyboard, Expansion Jacket and more for convenient use on the fly. The slate appears to be in direct competition with the likes of the Microsoft Surface which may have not received a formal release in the country, even if it’s available for sale via certain outlets.
The business-oriented HP device flaunts a touchscreen of 10.1 inches and a resolution of 1280 x 800p. This is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 stretched over it. Powering all of the slab’s functions is a 1.8GHz Atom Z2760 dual core processor and there’s an integrated 64GB eMMC SSD hard drive for hoarding needs. The camera on the back panel is an attractive 8MP one and there’s a 1080p HD front facing lens for making video calls too.
When it comes to dimensions, the device can boast of being even slimmer than the iPad with Retina display; that’s a depth of 9.2mm compared to the Apple tablet’s 9.4mm thinness. Porting the Windows slab around shouldn’t be much of a hassle considering its 1.5lb weight, and this is something that the Surface RT has done equally well at. Now one of the few things left between interested buyers and them shelling out the change for the former will be Microsoft’s quick move to introduce its very own baby into the market (that is, if the company bothers to do so).
