HiFiMan HE-400 headphones arrive to jazz up audio experience

HiFiMan HE-400 Headphones

To begin 2012 on a musical note, the HiFiMan HE-400 headphones have been disclosed. According to Gizmodo who spied it out via Head-Fi, this dynamic looking device is the most affordable planar magnetic headphones to debut from HiFiMan’s stable.

This aural gear claims to deliver clear sound along with deep bass and rich quality. The integrated planar magnetic drivers are touted as the main contributors to an impressive sound experience. The utilization of these drivers is something we frequently bump into in an audio peripheral industry which mostly uses such components of the dynamic type that are more cost efficient and easier to manufacture.

A planar driver comprises a very slim and light diaphragm, surrounded by powerful magnets. As opposed to dynamic drivers, headphones with planar ones employ additional force and surface area to deliver sound. Thus the device becomes more responsive and accurate. Or that’s what users should hope to expect from the HiFiMan headset, at least.

The HE-400 is touted to be 92.5DB efficient and sports the HiFiMan sonic signature. Equipped with comfortable ear pads, it offers an impedance of 35 Ohms and a frequency response ranging from 20Hz to 35KHz. Since it weighs only about 440gm, this aural device can easily be carried around for usage with mobile phones and tablets.

The HiFiMan HE-400 headphones may now be pre-ordered online through head-direct.com for a price of $349. It is scheduled to be officially launched this month at the upcoming CES 2012.
