Google Voice Search for Android updated with 13 new languages

Google Voice Android

Google Voice Search for Android seems to be flaunting its multifarious attributes as it now supports 13 new languages. This utility is already out in 29 dialects and these fresh additions increase the number to 42.

This multilingual application is accessible in 46 different countries across the world. The list of accents has been refreshed with Swedish, Galician, Catalan, Basque, Icelandic, Romanian, Slovak and Norwegian. Further, Serbian, Finnish, Bulgarian, Hungarian and European Portuguese are part of the show as well.

“Each new language usually requires that we initially collect hundreds of thousands of utterances from volunteers and, although we’ve been working on speech recognition for several years, adding these new languages led our engineers and scientists to tackle some unique challenges,” states a post on the official Google blog.

The upgraded utility is compatible with Android 2.2 and higher devices. There are 2 ways to access this reformed feature on handsets. Users can either tap the microphone button on the main search widget present on the homescreen or download the respective app.

Notably, only one language at a time can be spoken into the device, after which the search giant will read out the answer in the concerned tongue. With a host of languages under one roof, approximately 100 million users across the world can take advantage of this tool. Before launching a voice-powered search using any of the aforesaid languages, the respective settings have to be changed.

The updated Google Voice Search for Android app can be downloaded via Google Play.
