Google Voice for Android has added a new feature in the form of multiple texting to its kitty. Android phone and tablet owners can now send text messages to several recipients at the same time. Previously, sending numerous messages to a group was only possible through the PC but not via the phone or tablet app.

Updated to version 0.4.2.38, the Voice application has finally enabled users to send text messages in bulk, a feature that even most basic devices are reportedly capable of. Furthermore, the upgrade has enhanced text message notification for Android handset owners. It is however touted that the offering doesn’t yet allow for group chat conversations. Users can now even prefetch voicemails so that they can be heard even in the absence of any data coverage.

The Google Voice application lets users make international calls at lower rates through their Google number as well as send free text messages. It is currently operational only from the US and citizens having a Google account can listen to voicemails as well as read transcripts via this app.

Categorized under the Communication section, the application possesses a size of 4.2M and is capable of functioning on devices running Android 1.6 or above. Although it seems to have become quite popular with the masses, some of the main grouses that subscribers of this app have are reportedly that it is slow and doesn’t lend support to MMS.

The updated Google Voice app can now be downloaded for free from the Android Market.
