The Google Mobile blog has announced that the Google Search app for iPad has been updated with various new and interesting features. Besides simplifying the process of searching, the app has apparently become more interactive and visually appealing with its upgrade.

The refreshed version of the tablet app now delivers more rich and vivid images. A new image carousel will display clear images to users who can tap on any of them to get a bigger picture. According to the blog, as input of text is more difficult on tablets in the absence of physical keyboards, the company has created a visual way of selecting images from the search history. Users merely have to swipe for viewing snapshots of the pages they have visited, which will then be collected and organized by search term. In this way they can optimally mage their search history.

The app has now picked up speed and offers immediate results via Google Instant that starts showing results as soon as they start typing, eliminating the need to press the search button. On choosing a web page to visit, users will be able to see it load on a new slide-in pane which layers over the search results. They can continue browsing through the search results while the web page loads and slide the pane on the right side for returning to the results page.

The most important section of the page can now be highlighted by tapping on the magnifying glass situated at the top right-hand corner. Furthermore, users are allowed to recommend pages they like with the new +1 button that sits adjacent to the magnifying glass and help others seek out relevant websites more easily.

The updated Google Search app for iPad can now be downloaded for free from the App Store.
