Mobiles apps and websites are useful because of the navigation systems and the usage of location. According to the Official Google Mobile blog, Google has recently launched Google Latitude API, an app which offers an easy way to use users’ Latitude location with all apps or services on the web. This app lets users effortlessly share their location with anyone they want, display it according to their own requirements and even keep a history of it.

Google Latitude API assists users to safely share their location with third parties. These third party developers can build apps and services for thermostats that can turn on and off automatically when users are driving towards or away from home or send traffic updates so that users can skip heavy traffic areas. It can also be used to send users their credit card usage alerts to protect them from potential fraud when purchases are made far from the users’ location or for photo albums so that photos appear on all those places visited by users based on their location history.

This app will help developers build all such applications and more. Plus it will allow users to control their location as they can grant access to the developers of how much and what they can access or the data requested by them. Users can share their location history or current level location using Google Location History and they will also be able to view which developers can access their data and withdraw access from any developer at any point of time from Google Account’s personal settings.

Besides, getting a mobile phone’s accurate location in its background has always been tricky. To solve this problem, Google has built a free and open Latitude API that lets third party developers chosen by the user start using their updated location in new ways without going back to the basics.

Users can download Google’s existing Latitude apps from its official blog.
