While the new Google Goggles 1.7 for Android brings in a lot of new and refreshing changes, it also offers the Continuous Mode for devices operating on Gingerbread, Honeycomb, and Ice Cream Sandwich platforms. The application on Android version 2.3 and above will now be able to scan continuous scenes without any real image clicks or shutter press.

The continuous mode is an easier way to feed the image recognition application with information. At times when the data cannot fit in a single shot, users have to click several images. To escape this ordeal, the app activated in devices powered with Gingerbread and later versions of the Android OS will now automatically scan the scene. It is said to be most suitable for artworks, products, books, and landmarks. Snapshot mode, equipped with some additional features is still available.

“With Google Goggles, you can quickly add someone to your contacts, learn about paintings, translate foreign text, and even solve Sudoku. Starting today, with Goggles 1.7 for Android, we’re making your visual search experience much faster and providing better results with new features like continuous mode, improved text recognition and contributed results,” posted David Petrou, Software Engineer on the official Google Mobile blog.
