The Nexus One enjoyed a lot of publicity prior to its January 2010 release and after that too. This Google branded Android smartphone was launched with terms of sale stating an Equipment Recovery Fee of $350 plus an early termination fee by T-Mobile in case owners wanted to cancel their plans within 120 days of purchase. Google has now reduced this amount to $150 plus any ETF fixed by the carrier.
Not everyone reading the fine lines stating the terms of sale may have looked cheerful when the Nexus One was finally launched. It was not like many expected the Nexus One to disappoint them, but the $350 device recovery fee might have seemed steep when coupled with over $150 that T-Mobile was charging for ETF.
The altered fee which has gone through a $200 cut will probably be welcomed by those who want the Nexus One but are not too sure if they’ll want to hold onto it. It might even see more demand from those who were previously unwilling to shell out money for the device due to the high recovery fee attached to it.
