Gmail calling in 38 languages outside US

Gmail Calls According to the official Google blog, Gmail calling is all set to be available in thirty eight languages outside the U.S. Google Mail is also reducing the rates of calling to more than 150 places worldwide.

Last year users in USA were enabled to call any mobile phone or landline number directly from Gmail. They can now purchase calling credit in a choice of four currencies, Euros, British pounds, Canadian dollars or U.S. dollars. Since there are no connection fees, users only have to pay for the time they talk.

For calling mobile phones in the U.K, France and Germany, the calling rate has been reduced to $0.10 (or €0.08) per minute and $0.02 per minute for landlines. Also it now costs only $0.15 per minute to call mobile phones in Mexico and $0.02 per minute to call any phone number in China and India. Calls made within the U.S. and Canada will remain free, while those placed form outside to these nations will incur a cost of $0.01 per minute (€0.01).

The blog reveals that this functionality will be available in the coming days and users will be able to see a green phone icon at the top of the chat list when it arrives. For this users are required to install the voice and video plug-in. The domain administrator of Google App users should have Google Voice and Google Checkout enabled in the administrator control panel for allowing this service to be applicable on phones.
