Gmail app for iOS launches, and gets pulled off

Gmail App For iOS Devices

For users who have been expecting an official Gmail app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, the wait may seem unending and patience-testing as well. After Google and Apple took its own sweet time to get this app to the market and finally launched it yesterday, it had to be pulled back on the same day to get some bug issues fixed.

But there still is hope as an update tells us that the app will soon be launched again in a new, improved version. This will happen after the bug problems are fixed. Meanwhile, Google says that those who have downloaded the app already can continue using it anyway.

“Earlier today we launched a new Gmail app for iOS. Unfortunately, it contained a bug which broke notifications and caused users to see an error message when first opening the app. We’ve removed the app while we correct the problem, and we’re working to bring you a new version soon. Everyone who’s already installed the app can continue to use it,” posted Product Manager Matthew Izatt as an update to the post announcing the release of the aforementioned application.

The app is dedicated towards easing the use of Gmail on handheld iOS devices. It brings a host of services in a concise format, which is also designed to be time saving. The application takes care of organizing inbox mails in a manner which proves efficient when accessing them on a small screen and it’s optimized for touch too.

The Gmail app for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch is expected to be compatible with iOS 4 and higher.
