Garmin to launch Android based phones in 2009

Garmin logo The coming 2009 New Year will surely be a prosperous one for the Android Market. There are many manufacturers who are showing interest in launching atleast one Android phone next year. Joining the list is the Garmin.

Garmin plans to launch its first Nuvifone in Taiwan market and at the same time it is also working on launching its first Android–based device. The company has reported a 50% increase in holiday season as compared to 2007. Garmin will hit the second half of 2009 with its first Android based phone.

Garmin plans out to release line of mobile phones in 2009. This may create a tough competition in the market and amongst the network carriers. Since Garmin Android based phones will be developed by the company itself it will be interesting to see how the device builds in mapping and functions.

There is no detail at what price the device will be available; we will have to wait till the New Year begins.
