fring gets cooler with DVQ for Android and iPhone

fring DVQ If Android users were extremely pleased with fringOut’s extension beyond Symbian, this next tidbit is calculated to make them pledge a fair chunk of loyalty, if not eternal devotion to everything fring. The official fring blog has announced the addition of a video calling enhancement to fring for Android as also iPhone, dubbed DVQ (Dynamic Video Quality).

The technology tweaks video bit rate and frame rate depending upon the specific device being used in order to match network bandwidth during a call. This works to offer optimized video picture quality for accessible bandwidth between call peers. It is expected to render lowered rates of dropped calls and more connected calls.

“In the year since pioneering mobile video calls, we’ve seen that users network conditions change dramatically during and between video calls. That’s the nature of mobile experiences in heterogeneous networks,” cited Alex Nerst, co-founder and CTO, fring. “DVQ lets users make the best use of the peer- to- peer network capacity available at any moment during a video call, regardless of if they’re stepping into an elevator, commuting on a train or simply walking away from their WiFi hub.”

What’s more, an embedded DVQ indicator lets users keep tabs on changes in the network signal strength in real time. The DVQ technology proffers compatibility with 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi and WiMax mobile data bearers. It’s already available through the iPhone App Store and the Android Market.
