Flipkart has updated its mobile app to be compatible with Android Wear devices, which means you can use it on a smartwatch paired to your phone. This is the first time that an Indian online retailer has made an effort to reach the tech-savvy population with such an update to its application. But rest assured, more sellers are going to follow in its footsteps soon enough.
The update will allow users to receive push notifications from the Flipkart app directly onto their wrist and to scroll through their Wishlist too. It’s a very bare-bones version of what the final tool will look like since the company is yet to add more features to it. The software will support devices by Motorola, Garmin and Martian, encompassing the wearable Android platform as a whole.
In the future, Flipkart is keen on bringing order tracking information, personalized offer alerts and notifications about price drops, right to your Android smartwatch through its app. For now, the actual mobile application permits you to choose your method of payment for a product from Cash on Delivery, EMI, PayZippy and credit/debit card.
One tap is all that’s needed to add items to the Flipkart Wishlist which can later be viewed on your Android Wear smartwatch. You can look for products using text, voice command or by scanning a barcode. The app offers alerts on personalized deals, exclusive launches, discounts and so on. You’re also served recommendations based on what you’ve bought in the past.
