Facebook has copied yet another aspect of Twitter, the Trending feature with a view to allow users to easily find relevant content on the social networking website. It will bring interesting discussions regarding all the hot topics at your screen with just a single click.
The trending section is placed on the right hand side of the screen on your news feed and it will feature topics that most people are talking about such as Golden Globe awards or passing of Nelson Mandela. And just like a certain micro-blogging website personalizes content for you, the social network will tweak it in a way that it shows things you would be interested in, along with the much-talked about subjects.
Facebook has added another factor for these trending topics and that is to offer a headline along with the topic in question to let users know why it is the subject of discussion. This is one thoughtful input, considering that at a lot of times we wonder why a particular thing or person is suddenly so famous on Twitter.
As soon as you click on one of these topics, you are transported to an area where you will find posts by friends who have commented on it. Pages regarding them or talking about them will also show up on your screen. Whether strangers’ posts will appear here or not, has not been mentioned.
The Trending feature is currently in the testing stages and has been rolled out in certain countries on the web. Facebook may soon launch it for mobile apps too.
