A research says that Dell will soon arrive with its first smartphone.
Dell is famous for developing windows based devices.
After the recent launch of Palm Pre cellphone, rumors of Dell developing a smartphone is getting stronger.
If the rumors turn out to be true then Dell will also join in the race of developing smartphones. Dell has decided to launch a smartphone because it believes that smartphones are in great demand and nearly 14 % of 2008 cellphones markets were captured by smartphones only. Rumors and speculations have been around the corner for almost a year now.
“Dell could be fighting for a piece of that pie. It wouldn’t surprise me to see them do this.” comments Ryan Reith, an analyst with IDC. “This is such an enticing space that if you do it correctly you can be in a huge growth market.”
“Dell could help bring Windows Mobile back to the center stage,” adds Bonny Joy, senior analyst with research firm Strategy Analytics.
Specifications and functions for would be coming Dell smartphone is not revealed yet. But it is likely that the smartphone may run down on Windows Mobile operating system and can be rich in technologies. Creating a cellphone with unique design and wrapping it with few new functions would be a challenge for Dell.
Anyways, rumors will remain rumors only until Dell officially makes an announcement of its smartphone.
