Dell brings Venue, Venue Pro to Indian shores

Dell Venue, Venue Pro

In the midst of the Windows Phone 7 hype, Dell introduced its Venue Pro handset in the tech realm last December. The company also unveiled the Froyo-based Dell Venue at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show. After flaunting its sheen around the globe, the Dell Venue and Venue Pro smartphones have now landed in the Indian market. The manufacturer has also announced its collaboration with Aircel for its Pan India operations.

Designed to deliver refined social networking abilities, these handsets have been embedded with an entertainment hub for stretching out an exciting time even while users are on the move. The Dell venue is touted as the perfect one-touch 3.5G smartphone fueled by Froyo. Sporting a 4.1-inch AMOLED screen, it flashes a curved Corning Gorilla Glass which enables users to watch videos and surf on the web with seamless visibility. This has been further enhanced with the pre-loaded Dell Stage user interface.

The Venue’s 8MP camera facilitates customers to click candid images while they immerse in a connected environment constructed by the device. The encompassed business features such as ActiveSync and QuickOffice blend with its high speed access and swype technology for e-mail, editing and other purposes. To augment its stance and mobility, the handset has been sculpted into an elliptical, sleek form factor.

“Our strategy is to continue creating smart, innovative and new mobile experiences to help people discover new ways to enjoy the web, connect with friends, and navigate their lives,” elucidated Mahesh Bhalla, Executive Director & General Manager, Consumer and SMB, Dell India. “Following Dell’s purpose, to give our customers the power to do more, the Venue – with Android 2.2 and Venue Pro – our first Windows Phone 7 smartphone, gives customers a fresh new way to meet everyday social and professional commitments in a sleek and attractive form factor, and for the best value.”

The Dell Venue Pro is crafted to slide out an expansive portable entertainment and connectivity experience on the Windows Phone 7 platform. Outfitted with a QWERTY keypad, it unlocks direct access to the Xbox Live and other work/life applications. Its 4.1-inch AMOLED touch display and lucid architectural cuts make up for an appealing device. Compatible with 3.5G wireless and cloud-based services, the model comes implanted with a 5MP camera.

Gurdeep Singh, COO, Aircel, remarked, “Aircel is delighted to enter into a Preferred Partnership with Dell wherein Dell customers will enjoy exclusive data plans, PocketApps store and a rich bouquet of content and value added services. This alliance reinforces our drive to grow Smart Device penetration on our Smart Network.”

With the Aircel-Dell partnership for the latter’s Indian operations, users can ride along the GSM network with these devices. It has been revealed that Aircel subscribers stand to reap exclusive privileges as well as lay their hands on numerous apps unfurled by the mobile phone operator. The Aircel PocketApps store has been compiled with a wide array of content and value added services.

Powered by the Android 2.2 OS, Dell Venue can be grabbed for a starting price of Rs. 29,990. The Windows Phone 7-enabled Venue Pro is available at a preliminary cost of Rs. 34,990.
