The new Gallery application for the Nexus One smartphone is intended to dispense a spontaneous, resourceful and visually eye-catching user experience. It is completely favorable for communicating with images and videos on the touchscreen mobile device.

“Cooliris delivers products and experiences that make the web more exciting, cool and useful for consumers. The Gallery, developed by Cooliris, is a perfect example of how the Android platform can be leveraged to create differentiated experiences on smartphones and other devices. We are pleased to have Cooliris join the Open Handset Alliance and bring their expertise in enabling great experiences to the Android platform,” commented Andy Rubin, Vice President, Google.

Soujanya Bhumkar, co-founder and CEO, Cooliris, commented, “Cooliris is committed to providing the most compelling and easy-to-use applications for consuming media across multiple devices, including mobile and desktop. We are honored to join together with Google, the Open Handset Alliance and the open source community in order to collaborate and move Android even further ahead in delivering the ultimate mobile consumer experience.”

The Gallery is claimed to be the first resident mobile product to enable surfing, arranging, sharing and editing media simple, in one impeccably incorporated application. Since users stock up huge quantities of media on their mobile phones, the Gallery is planned to search through thumbnails of media swiftly and loads the high-resolution versions on selection. This facilitates effortless and effective surfing for users to rapidly leaf through their images and videos. By means of geolocation and tagging, one can classify their media into digital stacks by date, time and location. This enables easy finding and neat display of pictures and videos.

One can also haul present albums from their desktops or log on to Picasa web albums. A remarkable attribute of the media gallery is said to be the two-way sync with Picasa albums. This lets users animatedly update and open their Picasa media even on the move.

With the Gallery application, users can also share their videos and images without any problem. One step is all that is required to share pictures, videos, or complete albums via email, MMS messaging, Picasa, or even a Bluetooth connection. This multi-share facility is alleged to be entirely exclusive to the Gallery on the Nexus One smartphone. The media gallery also incorporates with other Nexus One applications that influence rich media.
