Users of the iPhone can now use the camera of their phone to deposit a check into the bank thanks to a new service by USAA Bank. The bank has launched the new USAA Deposit@Mobile feature for the iPhone. It is an updated version of its iPhone application which was launched in May. Users can now utilise their iPhone to deposit checks by capturing images of them. They no longer have to physically visit banks and stand in strenuous lines to deposit a single check .

This valuable and free application is packed with features cliams to ben downloaded approximately 140,000 times via the Apple’s iTunes store.

Wayne Peacock, USAA’s executive vice president of Enterprise Business Operations quoted, “Our members are on-the-go and need to be able to manage their accounts at all times, from any location. Nearly 50 percent of our 1 million mobile users are active-duty military, who may be deployed anywhere. The convenience of mobile access is essential to delivering the highest possible level of customer service.”

The United Services Automobile Association (USAA) is a company offering numerous services related to banking, investing and insurance in the United States. Users will have to take pictures of the front as well as the back of the check and upload them through the iPhone. The only condition applied here is that they will have to be eligible for credit or hold insurance through the USAA bank to enjoy this service. This application is secure and easy-to-use

With this service, it seems that there is lot more to applications than plain fun and amusement. Users can conveniently enjoy the convenience of banking from home by just clicking and uploading a picture with the click of a button. Hopefully, many more banks should bring out such applications for their customers.
