12 new Canon cameras introduced in India

Not many days following Nikon’s Spring Series launch in India, Canon has sprung into action, diverting people’s attention towards its fresh introductions from the PowerShot, IXUS and EOS profiles. But unlike the former Japanese company, which took the wraps off 17 digicams at the event, the one in question has offered lesser options with 12 snappers, granting five of them the power to support Wi-Fi.

Starting with the A-series under the PowerShot category, the new cameras are A2500, A3500 and A2600. The first two shutters cling to a 16MP camera sensor and feature a DIGIC 4 imaging processor as well as 720 video recording capabilities. The last candidate bears a 3-inch LCD screen while touting attributes like 5x optical zoom and 10x ZoomPlus.

Canon EOS 700D

Another cameras to have entered as a PowerShot snapper but doesn’t fall under the A-series is the ‘N’. In addition to a 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen, this device holds onto features like a 12.1MP CMOS sensor, 8x optical zoom and inbuilt Wi-Fi.

The company has included four new digicams in the IXUS series. Introduction of the 132, 135, 140 and 255HS has thrust the number of total snappers in this portfolio to eight. Except for the 132, all the other devices from this profile have been engineered to offer Wi-Fi.

IXUS Series

Even the EOS section has witnessed fresh additions that take the form of 100D as well as 700D from the DSLR portfolio and the C100 along with the 1DC from the Cinema cameras profile. The maker had introduced the latter series last year and the newest devices’ introduction has now bumped up the sum total of cameras to four in this category.

PowerShot A2500

The retail value of the Canon PowerShot N together with the A2500, A2600 and A3500, ranges from Rs. 5,995 to Rs. 20,995. Customers will find the IXUS series including 132, 135, 140 and 255HS pegged between 7,995 and Rs. 12,995. The 100D DSLR belonging to the EOS profile will be flashing a tag of Rs. 48,995, while the 700D will carry an MRP of Rs. 53,995. Finally, the Cinema cameras from the same portfolio can be bought for Rs. 5,00,000 and above. If everything goes as per the manufacturer’s plans, it will probably cross its objective of owning 300 retail stores by 2015.
