An official announcement about the arrival of the T-Mobile Prism has put an end to the speculations surrounding the phone for the last couple of days. The Android based device will be made available this week and carry a modest price tag of under $20.

To be precise, the smartphone is deployed with the Gingerbread mobile platform and runs on 3G networks, the last mentioned of which should ensure faster internet access. Need we mention that users can also sign into social networking websites through the phone? It flaunts a 3.5-inch multi-touch HVGA display, and the back panel is dotted with a 3.2MP camera possessing features like digital zoom and video recording capability amongst others.

The exact processor used in the phone has not been mentioned, but it should allow carrying out multiple operations at the same time. First-time users can also take advantage of the syncing feature for emails and contacts. And needless to say, the smartphone facilitates browsing through apps in the Google Play Store and tags along most Google Mobile services.

The T-Mobile Prism release date and price have been revealed. It can be purchased with a two-year customer agreement and qualifying monthly and data plans for $19.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. The annual contract can be scratched off for $149.99 with Monthly4G plans. The device will go up for sale at Best Buy on May 6 and Walmart on May 7. T-Mobile stores and the official website will stock up on the smartphone starting May 23.
