BQ announces launch of Ubuntu edition smartphones through Snapdeal in India

Spanish company BQ has announced the debut of the Aquaris E4.5 and Aquaris E5 Ubuntu Edition in India, where there will be sold as Snapdeal-exclusive offerings for Rs 11999 and Rs 13499, respectively. The new open source OS is hoping to rival Google’s Android which is currently dominating the market in the country.

BQ said the Aquaris E4.5 and Aquaris E5 Ubuntu Edition had done well in Europe earlier this year. They will now be released with India-specific Scopes which are individual quick start-up screens unique to the customizable OS. It prevents people from having to switch from one app to another and provides swift access to all the content used by a person, such as music or news.
