The BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 release date details have been officially unveiled, putting countless rumors to rest. The former is expected to first launch in the UK, Canada and the UAE, followed by the US in the coming months, while the latter should hit availability status during the initial stage of Q2 this year.
The BlackBerry Z10 takes on a full touch form factor which is highly similar to the Dev Alpha prototype’s. And its specifications aren’t very different as well. The front plays house to a 4.2-inch display that proffers a 1280 x 768 pixel resolution and a 356ppi density. Complementing the screen is the Flow UI that allows users to navigate through the interface with simple swipes.
The rear sports an 8MP camera that can record videos in 1080p, while the interior is integrated with a 1.5GHz dual core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. A microSD card slot has been added as well, for expansion purposes. The battery life affixed to this piece of hardware is estimated to be 10 hours of talk time or 13 days of standby.
The Q10 stays true to the original BlackBerry design which includes a QWERTY keyboard and it also packs in a touchscreen like the Bold 9930. The form factor adopted here is crafted from a glass-weave material that’s apparently stronger than plastic and at the same time, thin as well as lightweight. The smartphone boasts of similar hardware components as seen in its full touch sibling. A dual core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage take their place on the inside.
The company states that both devices will come with 4G LTE or HSPA+ support depending on location and they will also include support for global roaming. Potential buyers will have options of white and black shades only.
The BlackBerry Z10 will make its first halt in the UK starting today, followed by Canada on February 5 and the UAE on the 10th. Interested buyers in the US will have to wait until March to get their hands on the device, although the company does state that carriers will be announcing price plans and start taking pre-orders from today. Where the release date for the Q10 is concerned, it will be rolled out globally this coming April.
