BlackBerry Tour changed to Essex and will also offer Wi-Fi connectivity

RIM Logo The next Tour phone by BlackBerry on Sprint will supposedly extend support for Wi-Fi connectivity, according to IntoMobile. Being earlier identified with the codename Atlas, this new Wi-Fi Tour will apparently now be regarded as the Essex.

Accompanying all the latest devices from RIM, this handset will also make use of the optical trackpad. This Wi-Fi Tour which is now known as the Essex is expected to be available for sale sometime in 2010.

The addition of Wi-Fi capabilities to the Essex seems to be an added feature to the device. Well if true, this should come as good news for users who browse the web frequently while on-the-go.

There is no confirmed word on when exactly this handset will be launched in the markets. The network carrier of the phone is also not known.
