Those still hunting for an ‘end of the year’ gift to give their loved ones could consider purchasing the BlackBerry PlayBook which now comes with a reduced price tag. According to the GSMArena blog, like many year-end sales, RIM has also decided to sell its tablet at a lower rate for the last three remaining days of 2011.

The BlackBerry PlayBook had released way back in July this year but as the months went by, its sales apparently declined. Overshadowed by technical glitches as well as other numerous competitors, it didn’t experience smooth sailing in the tablet market.

RIM’s debut tablet comes incorporated with a 7-inch 1024 x 600p WSVGA display and boasts of 1GB RAM. Its users are allowed to capture pictures via the embedded 3MP front facing camera and the 5MP rear facing snapper which lets them shoot videos in 1080p HD.

It further measures 130mm x 194mm x 10mm and sports an HDMI output port which is capable of supporting 1080p HD videos. Moreover, the sleek black mobile device runs on the BlackBerry Tablet OS powered by QNX technology.

The BlackBerry PlayBook comes in three capacities of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB which were previously priced at $499, $599 and $699, respectively. However, they will be available for $199, $249 and $399, respectively up till 31 December, 2011.
