BlackBerry launches OS 10.2.1 for devices based on the BB10 platform

BlackBerry has announced a new version of its latest platform and the 10.2.1 OS has been made available for devices that run BB 10 OS. According to the company, the new platform helps users stay productive as well as connected at all times. It claims to bring several refinements and improvements to the table and some of them have been mentioned below.

The BlackBerry Hub has received certain tweaks and it can now be customized to show select types of messages such as unread, flagged, drafts or more. A pinch gesture is all it needs to get activated, after you have filtered it. A new incoming call screen has been introduced to help you answer or ignore a call by simply swiping right or left. New icons have also been added to silence a call or send text messages via BBM, SMS or email.

SMS and email groups can be created for broadcasting messages to a large number of people and messages can be opened directly from the lock screen. A combination of pictures and numbers can be used as passwords and a customizable set of settings can be accessed for quickly making changes. It comes in handy for switching between personal and work perimeter.

And what’s more, the offline browser reading mode lets you save the current web page and it will be possible to choose the sync source for contacts. A device and battery monitor, enterprise features and more have also been loaded into the new update. Expect automatic software updates in the future and the BlackBerry Z30, Q10 and Q5 will have FM radio functionality.

The BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 update has already started rolling out for gadgets running the BB10 platform.
