Just a while back BBM upgraded to version 5.0.1.41, while now two smartphones from RIM are receiving an OS update. The BlackBerry Bold 9650 and BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 can now be updated to OS 5.0.0.983 from CBeyond and Inland Cellular, respectively. With this new software update, it appears as if both these handsets are moving an inch closer towards an official BlackBerry 6 OS release.
Earlier, Verizon too had upgraded their Bold 9650 to OS 5.0.0.975. Although CBeyond has stepped a tiny bit ahead, it’s unsure yet how useful this update would be. On the other hand, CrackBerry states that the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 update from Inland Cellular appears to be ‘pretty good’ one.
Both of these are official and handset owners can head over to the BlackBerry software download page to avail them. Via the drop-down menu, users can select their device and then simply click on the next button to follow the rest of the instructions. As in the case of other operating system updates, BlackBerry owners should backup their data before downloading this one.
