BlackBerry 10.1 revealed with HDR and PIN to PIN messaging

BlackBerry has announced the BB 10.1 SDK OS (10.1.0.1483) for developers, who are still clinging to their Dev Alpha B, those who might have succeeded in claiming a Dev Alpha C or owners of the Z10. Clearly, this is not an OS meant for everyday users, but anybody fulfilling the stated conditions can try their luck with the latest update.

The SDK OS surely has come with a plethora of modifications which cannot all be penned down, but let’s run through a few of them which have been highlighted by CrackBerry. For starters, this version will work towards boosting the quality of images by proffering devices with HDR options.

The update brings in support for PIN to PIN messaging which has now been integrated with BB Hub, along with permitting APN editing. A part of this bumped up version involves change of ‘Highlights’ for texts. Remember how a word was encompassed in blue in case of a spelling error? That hue has now been changed to green.

Speaking of colors, the sharing menu has been splashed with a black shade, similar to the one in the upcoming Q10. BBM users will now be saved from the trouble of punching every contact’s name whom they wish to broadcast their messages to, seeing as inclusion of the ‘Select All’ option is one of the modifications to have stepped out through this OS.

Like we mentioned earlier, the BlackBerry 10.1 SDK OS comprises of too many alterations to state all in one go. In any case, the aforementioned report warns us that this version is meant only for developers and those who happen to own the Z10 should run it at their own risk. Furthermore, the company hasn’t revealed when it will officially release this version.

Here are a bunch of changes which the aforementioned post has highlighted:

– HDR option for taking photos
– PIN to PIN messaging available and integrated with BB Hub
– APN editing enabled (may remain carrier based)
– Highlights for text such as word correction on the keyboard changed from blue to green

– New help, demos and walkthroughs after initial boot
