Bharti Airtel joins the 3G race

Airtel tests 3G services Bharti Airtel is all set to take their services a step forward with its plans of bringing in 3G services to India. Yesterday Airtel successfully tested the 3G applications with various equipments.

A leading newspaper quoted Bharti Airtel President (Mobility) Sanjay Kapoor saying that they had tested 3G applications in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore on a trial indoor spectrum allocated to them. While service providers are all eager to launch the 3G services, the Department of Telecom (DOT) has clearly mentioned that 3G services will be allotted by auction. The leading contenders to grab away this feature are Vodafone, Reliance and now added to the list is Airtel.

Airtel is tight lipped about the equipments on which the 3G services were tested or which equipments may be launched, however the addition of Airtel on to the 3G race might just give an additional impact and we will be closer to 3G services being available in India a lot quicker.
