BBC’s iPlayer now available on the iPhone

iPhone, iPlayer Logo The BBC has announced the launch of an iPhone version of its iPlayer video on demand service. This happens to be the first time that this service is available on a portable device.

Now, you will be able to stream shows from the iPlayer web site using a Wi-Fi network on your iPhone.

The reason that the iPhone was one of the first amongst many other portable device to be compatible with iPlayer was simply because the device is the most optimized for high quality videos that iPlayer delivers.

Using a Wi-Fi Internet connection, iPhone users will be able to stream videos onto their phone. Sadly, iPhone owners on the EDGE mobile network will not be able to avail of BBC’s iPlayer service as EDGE is too slow to stream videos of a high quality.

BBC said that they are currently working on releasing their iPlayer for a number of other mobile platforms.
