AT&T, T-Mobile put up Samsung Galaxy S4 sign-up pages, Sprint declares launch window

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has had carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile vying for prospective buyers’ attention in the US by posting sign-up pages for it. Sprint has gone one step further and proclaimed an impending broad release date for it.

The handset has long been given more than its fair share of attention and was finally unveiled at the Mobile Unpacked event last week. Thanks to the innumerable rumors and leaks, most of the device’s information had been shoved into the open. Even then, the maker did manage to hold a few details to its chest which it put forward after the smartphone’s initial exposure in New York.

The eye-recognition technology based Smart Pause and Smart Scroll attributes, as is perceptible from their titles, allow hands-free stopping as well as resuming of videos and scrolling of texts, respectively. Air View and Air Gesture sanctions control of various functions through hand movements without any contact with the screen.

Accompanying the camera features, are 12 different modes that leave photographers with a lot to explore. They include the Sound and Shot selection which integrates noises and voices into the picture to breathe some life into the images. The Story Album function stores all the photos according to the time and date when they were clicked and geo-tagging information.

Delving into the specifications, the device doesn’t disappoint with its Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean platform. A 1.9GHz quad core or a 1.6GHz octa core processor will be in charge of providing momentum to the phone, depending on the market location. Memory options cover 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage space and the provision of a microSD slot enables further expansion up to 64GB. The manufacturer has also accommodated a 2600mAh power pack within the handset’s body.

While AT&T and T-Mobile haven’t really pointed towards any availability date for the Samsung Galaxy S4, Sprint has officially announced that the device will be available in the second quarter. Expectedly so, price details haven’t been revealed by any of the sources. But the last carrier does indicate that it would be disclosed in the coming weeks.
