AT&T Samsung Galaxy Appeal

The all new AT&T Samsung Galaxy Appeal is here to show that slider QWERTY keypads are still very much in the race. It is the carrier’s first phone of the kind to be part of the GoPhone service.

Just as mentioned above, the phone features a QWERTY slider keypad that should make the messaging and email experiences smooth. For now, potential users have a wedge of Gingerbread at their disposal, with no talks of an upgrade going on at the moment. The front panel is fitted with a 3.2-inch HVGA TFT display rendering visuals in 480 x 320p resolutions.

A 3MP snapper with 3x zoom capability and offering video recording at 24 frames per second, sits on the rear. Fueled by an 800MHz Arm Cortex A5 processor, the device features 512MB RAM as well as 1.8GB ROM. The phone is expected to provide nearly 7 hours of talk time and about 300 hours of standby time. Just to swing it slightly towards the environment-friendly side, the handset is touted to be made of 80% recycled materials for its plastic parts.

As already mentioned, the device will be shipping as part of the network provider’s GoPhone schemes that should open up reliable and budget-friendly plans to prospective users. For 1GB data, the price amounts to $25 a month, while for 200MB web access, it will cost around $15 per month. Alternately, for 50MB data, the price is marked at $5 every month.

All the aforesaid schemes are part of the Unlimited Talk & Text nationwide plan and the Unlimited Text with 250 minutes nationwide GoPhone plan priced at $50 and $25, respectively. The plans also support Wi-Fi usage over the network operator’s Wi-Fi hotspots.

The AT&T Samsung Galaxy Appeal will be made available at Walmart from June 5 onwards. It is expected to reach other AT&T GoPhone sales channels starting July 15.
