AT&T and Apriva introduce AprivaPay and AprivaPay Professional apps for smartphones

AprivaPay App

AT&T recently announced that it has collaborated with Apriva, a prominent wireless payment company. In order to fulfill its commitment towards small businesses, AT&T has joined hands with Apriva to offer new mobile payment applications dubbed the AprivaPay and the AprivaPay Professional for augmenting productivity and cash flows. The apps transform smartphones into point-of-sale devices with which users can carry out credit and debit card transactions.

AT&T is the foremost network carrier that provides point-of-sale solutions from Apriva. The Generator Research is a market research firm which has reported that the worldwide mobile payments market is anticipated to rise from the previous year’s $68 billion to over $600 billion by 2014. Such a growth is estimated with a CAGR of more than 50% by the next five years. The AprivaPay and the AprivaPay Professional apps will provide small-scale businesses with a reliable and secure vehicle to impeccably tap into such a wide market as projected by the research firm.

“Sales increase when small businesses accept payment cards,” asserted Michael Antieri, president, advanced enterprise mobility solutions, AT&T Business Solutions. “And given that an overwhelming majority of small businesses use smartphones, offering a mobile application that ties together payment cards and smartphones makes perfect sense. By offering these new mobile applications from Apriva, AT&T is helping small businesses create ‘virtual storefronts’ in the field, enhancing cash flow while minimizing back office processes such as billing.”

The AprivaPay is a browser-based application, which allows companies to process credit and debit transactions via the browser of the user’s handset. The AprivaPay Professional is a full featured application that can be downloaded directly onto the user’s smartphone. Moreover, the service can also be integrated into the device with the help of an optional card reader and a receipt printer. Such a feature would enable users to avail of financial benefits of ‘card present’ transactions coupled with printing receipts.

The AprivaPay app is available via AT&T for a monthly subscription of $14.95. The AprivaPay Professional app can be procured from AT&T for $19.95 per month.
