The popular iTunes App Store is claimed to be on the brink of hitting 10 billion downloads. And with these numbers clocked in, Asymco reveals that for each iOS device sold, there are more than 60 apps downloaded for the respective products.

Besides over 30 million downloads occurring each day, it seems that this figure is still undergoing a continuous expansion. Apart from the very number of downloads increasing, the rate of this growth is also experience a hike. After taking various agents into consideration, Asymco disclosed that the number of apps being downloaded onto the iPhone as well as iPad and iPod touch is over 60.

Back in the autumn of 2008, nearly 10 apps were noted to be downloaded for every iPhone or iPod touch. After a span of two years, this rate seemed to sky-rocket to over five times more. This resulted in the end user investment of apps being even higher when pitted against the end user investment in music.

Asymco came to the conclusion that apps surpass digital music while the overall apps consumption will also overtake the PC software market.
