Transformer Prime Pre-order

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime release date and price has been announced by GameStop, while pre-orders have started at a few other retailers in the U.S. and Canada as well. The gadget has mostly hit the headlines for being one of the few devices to be incorporated with the new Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor with quad core CPU, otherwise also known as the Kal-El processor.

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime tablet has been dodging customers for quite a while now. After being unveiled at the AsiaD conference in Hong Kong in late October, the pricing of this tab was announced in early November. And the exact shipping date from GameStop was dug up by Ubergizmo. Another highlight of this new slate is its detachable keypad dock, which lends it the feel and functionality of a laptop to a certain extent, without losing out on the easy portability factor.

Other than this, the tablet also flaunts a twelve-core GeForce GPU and vSMP technology, which takes care of its functions like web browsing, gaming, and more. Without the docking station, the 25W/h polymer battery embedded within is capable of running the Transformer Prime for up to 12 hours, which otherwise can survive multitasking for approximately 18 hours owing to the dock.

On the exterior, the 586g device is adorned with a 1.2MP front facing camera as well as an 8MP main one, both of which should be useful for video chatting, clicking pictures, and more. The 10.1-inch screen provides a viewing angle of 178° IPS, and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. Users can select from two trendy color options, namely amethyst gray and champagne gold.

Currently, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime release date through GameStop is December 9. Meanwhile, it is available for pre-order in Canada through Future Shop or NCIX, and in the U.S. via Amazon, B&H, Best Buy, GameStop, and TigerDirect. The 32GB tablet price is approximately $500, while the 64GB variant price tag reads about $600.
