Apple’s iPhone 5C is anything but cheap

Remember back when rumors about the iPhone 5C had started making their way onto the Internet? From then till now, this device was being referred to as a cheap Apple smartphone, but even as Apple has finally revealed it in its entirety (along with the iPhone 5S) its price doesn’t seem that affordable. The iOS 7-equipped gadget will be sold in the US at $99 (16GB) and $199 (32GB) through carriers, with two-year agreements of course. Off-contract, its prices will be placed at $549 (16GB) and $649 (32GB), which means you can expect its starting cost in India to be anywhere around the Rs 35,000 mark.

For the first time ever, an iPhone will be offered in five different color options. Blue, green, pink, yellow and white are the hues which it will be made available in. Speaking of its design, the iPhone 5C comes dressed in a single, hard-coated polycarbonate body which is complemented by a steel reinforced frame. Apple is really looking to penetrate more markets than ever with this new device, for it has equipped it with thirteen wireless LTE bands for connectivity using its nanoSIM card slot.

Moreover, dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 are supported by the device as well. Just like the iPhone 5, the 5C too features a 4-inch Retina display and runs on an A6 chip. An 8MP iSight camera makes its way into the phone, apart from a FaceTime HD camera. The device is claimed to deliver 10 hours worth of talk time on 3G networks through its powerful battery.

The Apple iPhone 5c is slated to begin rolling out in the US, Canada, China, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK on September 20. The second phase of its rollout is to begin in December, and that’s when you can expect it to land in India.
