Mobile phone enthusiasts across India who are yearning to lay their hands on Apple’s hugely popular iPhone 4 have some good news in store. Bharti Airtel, in collaboration with Apple, has announced its plans to officially release the iPhone 4 in India over the forthcoming months.

The iPhone 4 is the fourth generation of Apple’s iPhone handsets, following the iPhone 3GS. It exhibits a 3.5” 960 x 640p resolution widescreen multi-touch display with 800:1 contrast ratio featuring Retina display. The smartphone integrates a back facing 5MP camera equipped with 720p HD recording as well as photo and video geotagging capabilities.

The handset also jackets a front-facing VGA camera for enabling video calls via an innovative app dubbed FaceTime. The various connectivity features proffered by the device include A-GPS support, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR wireless technology, USB 2.0 port and more.

This phone includes a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery that ensures talk time of up to 7 hours on 3G or around 14 hours on 2G networks and standby time of approximately 300 hours. It packs in support for display of multiple languages and characters as well as provides instant access to a multitude of apps via iTunes App Store.

The exact release date for launching the iPhone 4 or its pricing details are not made public as of now.
