The tremendous growth displayed by Android has been acknowledged world over. The recent findings from Canalys for the third quarter of 2010 noted that the Open Handset Alliance’s Android from Google summits the US market. The operating system amounted to a 44 percent share in the United States alone. The very fact that the Android Market has crossed the 100,000 application benchmark shows that the platform is making it big.

Recently, Andy Rubin tweeted that over 300,000 Android phones are activated daily. The numbers appear huge as just in the month of August it was claimed that over 200,000 Android enabled devices are activated by Eric Schmidt. From the looks of it, the operating systems future seems bright and glorious. A couple of days back we witnessed Google taking over the tech terrain in a breeze with its Nexus S as well as Android 2.3 and now this.

Making the right moves, Google has swiftly won over several big names in the mobile industry. Almost all of the major handset owners have the OS embedded into their device, obviously leaving out one of its major competitors, Apple. Guess now we simply await Nokia’s foray into the Android world!
