As the Amazon Kindle store India launch goes official, fans across the country get convenient access to the well known eBooks hub. The icing on the cake is the Kindle eReader that is now shipping via Croma outlets for a budget price of Rs. 6,999.

Dubbed India Kindle Store, this avenue will provide access to a horde of titles including 70 Nielsen Bestsellers. The catalog is inclusive of new releases as well as works of Indian authors covering those from Ravinder Singh, Chetan Bhagat, Amish Tripathi and Ashwin Sanghi amongst others.

“We are proud to launch this new Kindle store for Indian customers – offering Kindle book purchases in rupees and the ability to buy and read the work of many great Indian authors. In addition, we are excited to work with Croma to make Kindle available at retail outlets across India,” expressed Russ Grandinetti, vice president of Kindle Content, Amazon.com.

Talking about the eReader in question, it is said to allow downloading of books within 60 seconds. It is capable of housing nearly 1,400 books and claims to enable reading for 1 full month on a single charge. Books purchased from the store once can also be accessed on Android or Apple-based devices such as the iPad, iPod touch, Mac, iPhone and others.

Owing to the Kindle Worry-Free Archive attribute, books that are purchased from the store are automatically stashed in the Kindle library on the Amazon website. The required offerings can be re-downloaded as and when desired. The renowned Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) feature for authors and publishers stays in place for customers in this region as well.

The Amazon Kindle store India launch is sure to come as a welcome addition for avid readers who prefer a virtual screen over a paperback.
