Clearly eager to leap onto the Android 4.0 OS, MIPS Technologies announced the Ainovo Novo7 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet just recently. Touting to be the first slate to run on the latest version of the Android platform, this device is powered by the Ingenic JZ4770 mobile applications processor.

The Novo7 operates on a 1GHz MIPS-based XBurst CPU and comes incorporated with the Vivante GC860 GPU that is responsible for offering 3D graphics. Boasting of Google CTS certification, it is equipped with a 7-inch capacitive multi-touchscreen display. This slab is capable of lending support to connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, USB 2.0, HDMI 1.3 and microSD.

Pre-installed with Gameloft’s Spider-man game, this Android 4.0 tablet delivers standby, music and video playback time of up to 30 hours, 25 hours and 8 hours, respectively. It is integrated with a 2MP rear facing camera as well as front facing snapper for video chats. The company states that their latest mobile device is slated to arrive in 8-inch and 9-inch versions in the near future.

The Ainovo Novo7 Ice Cream Sandwich tablet is currently available in China and online at ainovo.com. It will be launched in other countries within the coming months and carries a price tag of less than $100.
