More often than not, developers are confronted with roadblocks like portability of codes across different mobile platforms or increased cost of delivery when creating specific apps. Adobe recently announced the imminent launch of Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 and Flex 4.5 as a part of Adobe Creative Suite 5.5. These products are touted to proffer capabilities that accelerate mobile app development across platforms including BlackBerry Tablet OS, Android and iOS.

Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 software can employed for testing, developing and deploying mobile apps across varied mobile platforms. It speeds up the overall development of Flex or ActionScript projects and enables developers and designers to work in parallel. The latest version of the Flash Builder incorporates functionalities which help speed up coding and introduces performance improvements. Developers can now access, edit and save Flex projects that were previously created in Flash Builder, resulting in quick delivery of apps.

“With these releases, developers for the first time have a single development platform for building highly expressive web, mobile, and desktop applications, marking a leap forward for mobile app development,” commented Ed Rowe, VP of development tooling, Adobe. “With the proliferation of smartphones and tablets, enterprises now need to ensure that their applications work seamlessly across many different types of devices. Flash Builder 4.5 and Flex 4.5 will now allow companies to standardize on a common platform capable of delivering rich and consistent application experiences that perform great across Android, BlackBerry Tablet OS and iOS devices.”

The Flex 4.5 is an open source framework that includes enhanced support for building mobile applications on the various aforementioned platforms. Both the products are optimized to create standalone installed apps employing Adobe Air. Additionally, apart from the BlackBerry AppWorld, Google’s Android Market and Apple’s iTunes, mobile apps can also be easily deployed to the Amazon Appstore for Android handsets.

Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 products can be bought from Adobe authorized resellers or via the company’s online store within the next 30 days. The Flash Builder 4.5 Standard variant is expected to retail at $249, while the Premium version can be bought at $699. Flash Catalyst attaches a price tag of $399 and the Flash Professional package will cost $699.
