Acer associates with Open Handset Alliance

Acer Logo Acer has publicly declared that it has joined the Open Handset Alliance aka OHA. The organization was founded by Google and other Linux based Android smart phone operating system supporters.

In the announcement Acer also stated its anticipation to release Android based devices in the fourth quarter of this year. Being a member of OHA, Acer would be working along with its members, towards the growth of the Android platform. It aims to bring enhanced user experience; compared to the existing mobile platforms. Acer has exhibited its support for Android – an open mobile platform, by joining OHA.

Android claims to be comprehensive open mobile software. It includes an operating system, middleware and key mobile applications. Moreover it features every component necessary to assemble a mobile phone.

Android was built from the ground-up to enable developers to create fascinating mobile applications .The applications are developed effectively, to capture all the features a handset can provide.

Open Handset Alliance comprise of 40 members incorporating mobile operators, handset manufacturers, software companies, and semi-conductor companies.
