New Yahoo Mail app update offers news, search and more

For those of you who use Yahoo Mail, the company recently announced that its mobile app for Android and iOS were ready to roll onto your small screens with a revamped design. At the time of writing this news, Yahoo had unveiled the changes for users with devices running Google’s mobile OS. But this came several days after the software update for iOS was let loose in iTunes.

One of the major tweaks to the software is the way search functions inside Yahoo Mail. Apart from delivering ‘smart suggestions’ for people or messages you may be looking for, the results shown to you are also filtered. The answer to your query will be dropped into three different sections covering photos, emails and files so that it’s much easier to find what you’re seeking. If you take a peek at the recent reviews of it from Android device users, they’re not too impressed and many claim it’s now slower than before.

Yahoo Mail application features a separate area for News, Mail and Today, with the first mentioned extending users a customized news stream much like Google’s Gmail does. You don’t have to tap on icons to open them anymore since swiping accomplishes the same thing. There are some bug fixes and several small improvements to this app update as well as a Flickr-style image gallery for when you’re hunting down a particular photo by hitting the integrated search box.
