Gionee Elife E7 mini handset receives Android 4.4.2 KitKat update in India

If it wasn’t for one irritating detail, the Gionee Elife E7 mini being given an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update would have been something most users could appreciate. The company is not planning to roll out the software as an OTA (Over-the-air) package that you can download and install.

Instead, you’ll have to head to a Gionee service center and have a customer care executive update your Elife E7 mini to Android KitKat. It’s easy enough to find a service center in your locality by going to this official link. But why trouble customers to take time off and visit a center instead of simply beaming the update to them OTA?

Some of the changes which will arrive with Android 4.4.2 include a redesigned desktop layout, the addition of TouchPal input method and CamCard, a revamped gaming zone as well as updates to various pre-installed software. While the reaction to the Elife E7 mini appears to have been encouraging in India, several people are reporting problems with the way the RAM is utilized, an issue which has yet to elicit a response from the company.

The Gionee Elife E7 handset which is currently being sold without the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, is priced at Rs 17205 on Snapdeal and a little higher on the ever-dependable Flipkart.
