With a view to allow developers to create applications for a full suite of new Samsung handsets, the company plans to bring an open mobile platform called Samsung bada in December. A new addition to Samsung’s existing mobile application ecosystem, this platform is developed to offer a rich mobile experience with several innovative mobile applications and content.

Samsung ‘bada’ (which means ‘ocean’ in Korean) is created to provide seamless variety of applications that can be developed using this platform. This platform also exhibits several challenges and opportunities for application developers and an entertainment medium that will be available to large audiences once it is released.

“By opening Samsung’s mobile platforms we will be able to provide rich mobile experiences on an increasing number of accessible smartphones.” He added, “bada will be Samsung’s landmark, iconic new platform that brings an unprecedented opportunity for operators, developers and Samsung mobile phone users around the world”, said Dr Hosoo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Media Solution Center at Samsung Electronics.

With Samsung’s propounding experience in creating proprietary platforms on its mobile phones, the company developed this platform to bring limitless opportunities to developers. Samsung bada is simple to use and claims to be one of the most developer-friendly environments available specifically in the domain of applications utilizing Web services. The platform’s cutting-edge User Interface can be transformed into an attractive and simple UI design for application developers.

Samsung extends the range of variety for mobile phone users to offer an ultimate smartphone experience. With the launch of this platform, users can enjoy diverse applications on their devices. Samsung bada brings in easy-to-integrate platform to mobile operators that allows them to offer unique and distinct services.

An official launch event will be held in London, UK in December. Samsung will also release its bada software development kit (SDK) for developers.
