After the launch of HTC EVO 4G, Sprint is all set to release one more exciting phone. Well, joining the league is the new entrant namely Samsung Epic 4G which is claimed to be Samsung’s first 4G Android powered device. The phone is packed with features that offer best in screen, speed and content quality for a premium user experience. It allows users to experience fully integrated multimedia, messaging and social networking services.

With a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a full slide out QWERTY keyboard, the phones exceptionally thin in size. Now sharing of music, pictures and HD videos wirelessly to other DLNA certified home electronics such as HDTVs, monitors, digital cameras and printers has been made simpler thanks to the Samsung’s AllShare service.

Samsung Epic 4G joins a portfolio of powerful devices offering an unprecedented simplicity and value to our customers as the only national carrier with a 4G network and devices and applications that can leverage the increased data speeds to provide a high-def entertainment and business experience in the palm of your hand,” commented Steve Elfman, president, Network Operations and Wholesale.

With Android 2.1 platform, the phone supports a series of advanced touch screen gestures including multi-touch pinch, long tap and zoom and vertical and horizontal swiping. The phone enrolls a Swype technology for faster input of texts and naturally with one continuous finger motion across the virtual keyboard. With six-axis sensor users can link to the accelerometer by tilting the phone up and down or left and right to enhance a perfect gaming experience.

Omar Khan, chief strategy officer for Samsung Mobile stated, “Samsung Epic 4G is a powerful member of our Galaxy S smartphone portfolio which offers premium screen, speed and content features,” and further said, “The Epic 4G ups the ante with a front-facing camera for video conferencing, a full QWERTY keyboard and lightning-fast 4G speeds.”

The device is supported by the 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application processor for faster uploads and downloads of HD-like multimedia content. The phone is enhanced with a 5 MP camera/camcorder with autofocus, LED flash, 3x digital zoom, video recording, front facing VGA camera and video chat. With Mobile Hotspot capability users can support up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices to share the 4G experience simultaneously. They can enjoy an array of about 50,000 applications, widgets and games from the Android Market.

Business users can also enjoy this phone as it is supported with push e-mail and integrated calendar services including Google and Yahoo. For corporate email it includes Exchange ActiveSync which enhances device management and security features and Google Mobile Services. A basket full of applications can be downloaded like bar code scanning, signature capture, document viewing and the ability to stream and upload video for customer approval and archival purposes from the Android Market.

Samsung’s Social Hub elevates users to integrate all the social networking services, messages, personal and business email, calendars and contacts together. It also synchronizes all the calendar information such as Google Calendar and social networking services together. Sprint will launch the Android 2.2 upgrade where as Samsung will introduce the Media Hub for better user experience in the near future. The pricing details of Samsung Epic 4G have not been cleared.
