Garmin-Asus nuvifone M20 gets an update

Garmin-Asus nüvifone M20 Garmin-Asus’ nuvifone M20 gets a software update. The M20 is now available with the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. This update will allow users to enjoy a host of improvements offered by the new operating system.

This software update will provide users with features like large touch-optimized icons, mobile applications via Windows Marketplace and support for Microsoft My Phone service. The Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system comes preloaded with Facebook that allows users to stay connected to their friends and family while on the go.

“Through its innovative integration of a phone, navigator, and browser, the nüvifone M20 is designed to enhance the lives of consumers today. With Windows Mobile 6.5, users can enjoy the same great LBS (location-based service) features of the original nüvifone M20, but with a richer and more rewarding user experience,” said Benson Lin, Vice President and General Manager of the Asus Handheld Business Group.

“Windows phones bring together the best of the Web, the PC and the phone so you can connect instantly to the people and information you care about, no matter where you are,” said Stephanie Ferguson, general manager, product management, Microsoft Corp. “The Garmin-Asus nuvifone M20 helps people do more while on the go by combining the familiar, easy to use software on a Windows phone with a premium navigation experience.”

This update will also provide support for Marketplace for Windows Mobile. The Marketplace allows users to easily download and install additional applications on the M20. The Windows Marketplace offers high quality mobile applications. The new My Phone service promises to provide a wealth of features like data migration, data auto-syncing, backup and restoration and remote data wiping. It also allows users to view, synchronize and share photos across PCs, phones and web platforms.

The Garmin-Asus nuvifone M20 with Windows Mobile 6.5 will be available in select markets by the end of this year. There is no word on the pricing and availability details of this handset. The Windows Mobile 6.5 update will be made available to existing users for free.
