RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 comes to Thailand

RIM BlackBerry Curve 8520 RIM launches the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 phone in Thailand. This phone offers an amazing touch-sensitive trackpad that offers a unique navigation experience. The Curve 8520 claims to incorporate dedicated media keys placed on the top of the device and simplify the way users control their music and videos.

The handset allows easy access to emails, IM, SMS and MMS messaging and social networking sites which include Facebook and MySpace. It is equipped with a QWERTY keypad for easy and precise typing. It features multimedia capabilities that allow smooth access to music, games and other applications. The Blackberry Media Sync makes it easy to sync music from iTunes or Windows Media player. The feature-phone brings faster browsing and extended data coverage to its users with WiFi (802.11 b/g). The device sports a 2MP camera with excellent zooming and video recording facility.

“Consumers are becoming more demanding when it comes to their mobile phone purchasing decision. Many more consumers are considering upgrading to a smartphone, but they want something that provides extensive functionality while preserving ease-of-use,” said Gregory Wade, Regional Vice President, Asia Pacific at Research in Motion. “The new BlackBerry Curve 8520 is an ideal choice for consumers and it delivers all the great messaging, social networking and multimedia features that customers have come to love about BlackBerry smartphones.”

The smartphone features 256MB Flash memory and is driven by a 512MHz next generation processor. The memory is expandable with a hot swappable microSD/SDHC memory card slot that can support up to 16GB. The curve initially comes with a 2GB card but is expected to support next generation 32GB cards. The device supports Bluetooth 2.0 with headsets, car kits, stereo headsets and other Bluetooth peripherals too.

The Internet Service gives access to 10 email accounts from service providers that include Yahoo!, Windows Live Hotmail and Gmail. For corporate operations, the phone gives access to Blackberry Enterprise Server Support that offers advanced security and IT administration features. The device also supports Quad Band EDGE/GPRS/GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz).

There is no official word on the pricing details but is expected to reach Thailand in October.
