For Android fans in the UK, it looks like the recently unveiled Sony Xperia S is all geared up to go trotting across the nation through Clove. Now available for pre-order via the online retailer, this device marks the first smartphone in the company’s new range titled Xperia NXT.
Introduced at the CES 2012, the handset is originally designed to operate on the Gingerbread OS. However, the device is expected to receive its serving of Ice Cream Sandwich, Google’s latest mobile platform release, by the second quarter of this year.
Graced with a 4.3-inch 720p HD Reality Display touchscreen of 1280 x 720p resolution, the Xperia S is being offered by Clove as an unlocked device. The rear panel is dotted with a 12MP camera with LED flash, 16x digital zoom, a Sony Exmor R sensor, 3D sweep panorama, and other such features. This is supported by a 1.3MP front facing snapper which also accommodates 720p resolutions.
The smartphone is powered with a 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm MSM8260 processor which allows users to efficiently multitask and browse the web apart from conducting other activities. Besides this, it includes 1GB RAM as well as an internal storage capacity of 32GB. Embedded with a 1750mAh battery, it survives talk time of up to 7 hours 30 minutes, or standby time of up to 450 hours.
The NFC-enabled Sony Xperia S price through Clove in the UK is £467.99, inclusive of VAT. Currently available for pre-order, the website reports that the first stock is due to begin shipping after March 5.
