Sony Ericsson GreenHeart now available in Philippines

Sony Ericsson Greenheart Sony Ericsson has finally rolled out the most awaited eco-friendly handset, the C901 Greenheart in the Philippines market. The environment conscious handset packages innovative features without harming the environment.

The GreenHeart handset boasts a five megapixel camera with built-in Xenon flash. The camera offers Face Detection, Smile Shutter capabilities along with BestPic, a prominent feature of Cybershot devices that facilitates users to get nine pictures in quick succession with a single click.

“The key environmental innovations from our GreenHeart study such as reduced packaging, elimination of the paper manual and the choice of cleaner materials will be implemented in other products in the portfolio,” quoted Hirokazu Ishizuka, Sony Ericsson corporate vice president and head for the Asia-Pacific.

The handset allows users to view high-resolution shots on the 2.2-inch scratch-resistant mineral glass display. Users can also send the images to a blog, Web album, Facebook or for online print ordering. The Sony Ericsson handset also supports YouTube and Facebook.

Truly following the Greenheart concept, the C901 is equipped with an in-phone manual, thus saving paper and providing quick access to the product support guide. The mobile phone is made from 50 percent recycled plastic. Even the optimized display light sensor consumes less energy. The handset uses waterborne paint that reduces the overall carbon dioxide emissions by 15 percent.

The company also plans to unveil two products under the Greenheart brand, a high-speed Net-enabled phone with active desktop and interactive calendar known as the Naite and the MH300 headset which is made up of 100-percent recycled plastic, later this year. The WalkMate application is also embedded within the handset which compares the steps taken with the equivalent journey traveled by car.

The GreenHeart phone is now offered in Philippines’ retail stores.
